This baby has my heart! We had a fantastic day visiting with him. A lot happened today. When we got there, we got started with a bang....Kade had a dirty diaper and we had to change everything down to the sheets, clothes, give him a bath, etc. We know the first days of these diapers are going to be terrible, BUT it means the surgery was a success and everything is working.
The surgeon called and said that we could start Pedialyte 30ml every three hours. We were able to see how to actually use his g-tube and it was so easy. You literally just poor it into the tube...no thought needed...lol. When we go home, he will have the g-button by then so it will be even easier. So we fed him and when I called tonight to check on how he tolerated it, he did great....no spitting up or signs of anything bad. He had a couple more bad diapers but they are very pleased he is doing it. They were able to give him 1/2 strength formula to see how his belly will handle it. Here is where the real tests start coming. So we'll see how he does. We also got to lower the TPN a tad which is good, because his liver levels were more elevated this week, of course.
Because his bedding all needed to be change, we used this as a perfect opportunity to move him out of the warming bed and back into his crib. In the meantime of Josh and Mark putting all that back together, I got to HOLD HIM!! IMMEDIATELY when I picked him up, he started talking and cooing so much and was so excited to see us. Poor baby hadn't had someone to hold him in 6 days! He was soooooo adorable and happy!! I have a couple pictures and videos, but nothing does justice to how he was acting. Even the doctors that were in there stopped by to see what he was talking about. He was being so vocal!
Oh, I love that he feels better!!!!! How sweet is that smile!?!??!
We played for about 20 mins and then I looked to talk to Josh for a sec and when I turned back, he was sound asleep....no rocking needed. He just wanted him mom! :)))
Once it was time to leave, we got him all snuggled back in his bed and he looked so happy to be in his crib instead of the warmer! The red light is his SAT thing....he isn't glowing, don't worry :)
Thanks so much for all the continued support!! Please keep the prayers coming!
xoxo

ReplyDeleteOk, the picture of him with his hand by his Soothie (where he appears to be glowing) is just my absolute favorite! And, if he is glowing, it is because he is feeling the love!
ReplyDeleteGreat awesome news that he made a big mess! Probably the most welcome mess you've encountered in a long time!!!!
