We have had a great weekend for more reasons than one. First, Kade had a great, happy, weight filled weekend and second, Lucas was born on Saturday!!! Lucas is Keegan's (my brother) son. Unfortunately, Lucas decided to come 4 weeks early and his lungs weren't ready for him to come out and into the world. He is now in the NICU as well and, ironically, he is in the same exact spot Kade was born and brought to!! ODDDD!!!!! There are like 120 spots there and Kade and Lucas are originally brought to the same one. Kade has since moved to the playhouse, obviously, but its weird. As far as Lucas, he is doing ok. He is on the CPAP machine to inflate his lungs fully and give him some help on his breathing. He is breathing room air, but without his machine he is struggling with each breath. He looks comfortable, but he also appears really sick (which he is not that sick) but that cpap machine is pretty intense on him. Looks like he is wearing a football helmet. They are thinking he has to stay another couple days at least, but they should know more in 48 hours as far as how long he should have to stay.
Kade Michael is doing exceptionally well!!! I would say we are CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC. He now weighs 11.8.....no really sure where this weight jump is coming from, but we'll take it! He is now taking bananas, squash, and cereal by mouth. He is eating more than half of both jars almost with his cereal and loving every min of it. That has something to do with his weight gain for sure. Dr. Alberti called Friday to check on him and Liz was his nurse so she got to talk to him. Glad it was her and not someone who wasn't familiar with him. He said to give him as much of food as he wants, when he wants, however he wants. He is not concerned with him taking a bottle (bc he has the formula going thru the feeding pump), he just wants him pumped with food.
They are also giving the medicine still that is supposed to cure his dumping for last week...it has definitely worked bc we are changing diapers sometimes that are only pee....that NEVER happens!! EVER!! He is still on the TPN, but I expect for that to go down some and possibly off soon.
My mom and dad checked in the NICU today with two name tags...one saying Wisdom and one Marino :( They had to go see both their grandsons there. This is their 3rd grandson and 3rd in the NICU (Evan was there about 5 days).
So, please keep Lucas & his family in your prayers and prayer lists as well as us.
11.8!! Thank the Lord! Thats awesome :) Go head Kade =)
