It's been quite a while since I've updated. Lots has been going on. Jade is growing like a weed! He now weighs 16.9 pounds!! He has gone from 20 diapers a day to 3-5!!! What a MIRACLE God has blessed us with!! Any doctor or nurse you meet that knows anything about the stomach and the things Kade was faced with will the you what a miracle he is!!
He has such a wonderful personality!! He loved being around anyone and anything. His absolute favorite person is....well... ME! Lol! He lights up sooo big when he sees me and always laughs so much. We spend A LOT of time together so it is only fitting! We are always on the road with 2-3 therapies or doctors appts a week and by the time we get home, I am BEAT!! I am going to try and do better about keeping everyone updated! Meanwhile, he is an email I sent out today updating everyone on his surgery.
Kade's surgery to close the hard palate, redo his lip (mess up that Dr. Dean did) and put another set of tubes in his ears has finally been scheduled.
He will be having surgery September 24 at 7:30am at Children's Hospital in New Orleans. The surgery should last a couple hours. He will have to stay at least one night in the hospital. I am glad for that because he will be allowed to have pain meds every two hours so should be comfortable (as possible.. Ugh).
This is the surgery we have agonized over for almost 11 mths. I hate to see him go thru more pain, but this is a major building block to his progression in eating, swallowing, speaking etc. He will require a second surgery in a couple months to repair the rest of his palate (soft palate...in the back of his throat and to stitch his uvula back together, etc)
Please keep him on your prayer lists (and us) to get thru this with little to no pain!! It's hard to believe he has come this far! This will be surgery 7 and he is the happiest child we have ever met. He is such a fighter and we are looking forward to celebrating his 1st birthday on 10/21!!! What a wonderful celebration it will be!!! You are all invited to attend!
Thanks so much for your continued prayers and support! We couldn't do this with such a wonderful support system!!
Xoxo
Gretchen
